On the journey of doing things the other way.

Kasia:

Hello and welcome back. I'm so excited to dive into today's episode because we are discussing a topic that is so near and dear to my heart our soul purpose. I feel like this constant seeking of meaning in our lives is part of a very human experience. Many of us have probably had those moments where we wake up and we find ourselves really questioning why am I here? What am I meant to do? Am I living the life that I'm meant to be living? What are my gifts? How can I bring them into the world and how can I really express myself in that authentic way? And I would argue that perhaps these questions, these deeper reflections, are even more pertinent for those of us living here in the West, because so much of our identity and our meaning comes from the work that we do. In today's episode, we'll push on that.

Kasia:

I am speaking with Elaine Glass, who is the author of a book called Get Quiet Seven Simple Paths to the Truth of who you Are, and we're diving into the journey and the accessible steps for spiritual awakening and material awakening, how to really get to the core and root of who you are, not just the theory behind it, but how to ask the right questions and practice certain practices that can help get you closer to that. This is a very theory-based and also practical application kind of episode. I absolutely loved it. It dives into so much mindfulness in a very accessible way and without further ado, let's dive into it. Elaine, welcome to the podcast.

Elaine Glass:

Nice to be here with you, Kasia. Thank you so much for having me.

Kasia:

The honor is truly all mine. When I read your book, I was like, ah yes, as I said right before we started recording, we so need this. So I am so glad you put it into the world and thank you for coming on and chatting with us about it. So, yeah, yeah, well, thank you. We have a lot of things to cover, but before we dive into all the questions I have prepared, I want to start with a question that I ask every guest, and that is what are three words that you would use to describe yourself?

Elaine Glass:

I would describe myself as introspective, I would describe myself as insightful and I would also describe myself as creative. Those three things Oof.

Kasia:

So good. So I actually want to kind of dive into a little bit of the introspective part. It's not surprising to me at all, although I wasn't expecting you to say it. I'm curious how did that evolve for you, like, was this always part of your identity, or is that something that has kind of shifted in the past couple of years, especially with the theme of your book and all the work that you did to kind of dive into some parts of that?

Elaine Glass:

I would say the introspection came early on. I was born a quiet human being, so I was also raised in a beautiful environment. Not only a healthy environment in terms of my family, but in terms of an environment outside of me created that beauty and that space and that quiet to be able to have the those moments, to be able to go within myself instead of um always just looking outside of myself. So I really was born this way, but what happened was my life got a bit crazy and chaotic, like most of our lives do as we become adults, and so I lost that ability to get quiet and I lost that ability to create space and healthy space, to ask those big questions that we all have you know, who am I? Why am I here? So I knew I had that ability early on, but I lost it. And when I lost that ability, my life came crashing down. So I knew I had to get back to that place again.

Kasia:

I think that that is so powerful to kind of reflect for people because I can't say everyone, but it does sound like and based on, of course, what you just shared these massive questions of who am I Like, what is my purpose, why am I here. These are such human questions that I think most of us struggle with and they cause a lot of suffering for us. And so I think it's so powerful that you were able to kind of reflect on your not just innate abilities but also, it sounds like, the cultivation of the right environment to foster those, the ability to be reflective in that way, to kind of come back to that and kind of bring yourself back to grounding. I think that that's so powerful because so many of us, you know the restlessness that comes with getting quiet and becoming reflective can almost be like the biggest barrier to even wanting to go there, even though we know that something's wrong, so to speak. Right.

Elaine Glass:

Exactly, and you know we put so much pressure on ourselves to get those answers of what is my purpose. Why am I here? The overarching theme here is we've just lost the ability in this modern world to co-create with our creator, whatever that is outside of ourselves that we know is bigger than us, whatever we call it, because we've lost that connection to that energy, if that makes sense. And I feel like that energy is our soul. It's the energy that's invisible, that's hard to trust, that's hard to believe. It's there until we have that moment that blows our minds, and that is those moments of synchronicities. And so that is the whole idea of the book.

Elaine Glass:

Get Quiet is how do we connect to that soul energy? There's got to be a way, a method to be able to get connected inward, and I've created the paths to do that so that there's there's no mistaking when you do connect with it. It's very profound when you do. It would be like living a life where you've got one hand tied behind your back and you're trying to drive a car. You could do that, you could drive a car one-handed, but wouldn't it be so much easier if you were using both of your hands? So that's the metaphor of when we're not living connected to our soul, but it's very elusive. It's the unseen that we're trying to find, but it's so important when we do connect with it.

Kasia:

Yeah, oh, absolutely. And I kind of want to dive into a particular question about that co-creation, because I feel like we need to name this out of the gate, that a lot of people might immediately think, when you say that, that it implies that their work, right, their vocation, needs to equal that purpose. Right, and because I think also it's a very Western concept in a way, right Like purpose equals work or purpose equals kids. It's like translating exactly to what it is that we're doing in the world, and so I would love to actually have you share with us when, especially as somebody who has done this reflection, who has not just done it but written about it what does that deeper purpose mean? Is it always connected to what it is that we're doing? Like, does creation have to be something that we're putting out there and then making money off of it? Like, how do we know what that is? And is that kind of a misconception that it has to be the thing that is our identity entirely?

Elaine Glass:

This is a very complex question, because it's not either or it's both. You can have a purpose in life, like, let's just say, for me, my purpose is to help people find clarity and inner peace. That's one purpose, but I think the biggest overarching purpose of all of our lives and I don't want to put anything very specific in anyone's minds, but maybe think about this for yourself what if our purpose here on this planet is to live like we are souls having a human experience and then to experience ourselves in as many ways as we possibly can? Wow, how much freedom does that give you?

Kasia:

That is a very powerful statement, I think, because so many of us and I'll speak from my own experience especially but there's this fixation on finding my purpose and getting there to like a very specific place and there's a lot of resistance towards change and evolution. And with what you just said, if I'm hearing you correctly, it definitely allows for an element of experimentation and a kind of a, rather than fixating just on the, the purpose, capital P that we're trying to find and become and turn into and be experiencing 24-7. It's more of how can we have the experiences and the evolutions, in whatever form that they might come, and that it may not be just a solid milestone that we're all just going towards. That is one. There could be very many and it could be the experience itself. Does that sound about right?

Elaine Glass:

Totally, totally. And for an example to make this really practical when my life came crashing down, I became a single mom overnight of two small boys. I was in a very, very abusive, mentally, emotionally abusive relationship, marriage for 13 years and I left my husband the hardest thing I'd ever done. And because of that trauma, because of that loss, because of all those emotions, I became stuck, my body became stuck, my mind was stuck, I was frozen, and that's what trauma can do Just we freeze. So, as I was so-called thawing out and healing, I took this one particular year and this is where I go back to experiencing myself in as many ways as I possibly could to heal. So I took this one particular 12-month period and each month I chose something to do that was a little bit out of my comfort zone. The first month was I went to Toastmasters because I thought, well, I'm a little afraid of public speaking, you know, I'll try it. So I went to one class. So it was just one small thing I did every month for 12 months and I really checked in with myself.

Elaine Glass:

What am I curious about? How can I re-engage in life after loss, how can I feel alive again, because I was so numb and how can I experience myself in all these different ways that could actually please me, that could actually build my confidence back up again, that could actually maybe even become my new career, my new life purpose. And that's what that year did for me, because I went from going and being in healthcare for 20 years to taking that year and at the end of that year I'd become a master life coach. I started my own business. I 'd fully re-engaged in life again, I was smiling again, my heart was open and I actually fell in love for the first time again that year after my divorce. So again, this is just that. What we're talking about is how can we experience ourselves, give ourselves the permission to do things that we're curious about, and engage that way in a new way than we ever have before?

Kasia:

Yeah, name that because, as much as we hate these experiences of transformation and of almost like cycles of death and rebirth, they are happening to us in our human experience and will continue to happen day in, day out.

Kasia:

It could be a breakup, it could be divorce, it could be the loss of a loved one, right, Like if we're part of families and there are people that we love, like people that are older than us, people that are in accidents, like may it be the changing of what it is that we expected that we have to let go of. Like we're constantly in these cycles of death and rebirth. And so I love this notion of, rather than latching on to this or that and having to be there, that there's this kind of almost like taught that you know you go from school to, let's say, college in many cases to get your first job to getting married. Like divorce isn't part of the equation, and so when you do have, you know, obviously it's not part of the planned equation, I think for a lot of people. So when you do have those breakdowns, I think it's so important to not just focus on the next milestone but on the journey of getting there. It's almost like. That is the point right In a way. I think that's so powerful.

Elaine Glass:

Oh, I love that. You said you know the path is the purpose, because when something happens to us that shakes our world, it shakes us to awaken us. And what are we waking up to? We're waking up to the soul because we we up until that point. Like you said, we've got the job, we got the husband, we have the kids, whatever it is we got that we wanted was a very human thing, a a very noble path, all of those wonderful aspects of our lives that we want.

Elaine Glass:

And what I'm saying in Get Quiet, in the book Get Quiet, is that there is a whole other side of you that we've disconnected to and that is the soul that we need to remember that we are a soul having a human experience and when we are disconnected to this energy, to this all-knowing, wise energy that I believe is somewhat encoded with our soul's mission to know what we're here to do in this lifetime, then if we're disconnected from that, of course we feel lost, of course we feel like we're out of control. And I had so many people ask me, you know, but how do I, how do I connect with it? How do I go inward? How do I connect to myself? You know, it is. It's just so elusive. And I found a way to do it and that's what I write about. It's the seven paths to being able to connect to that part of you which I call the soul, which I believe originates from the energy of God. It comes from the infinite. It's the part of you that never dies and that's important too. And that's important too because we're so fearful as human beings. We're so fearful and we're running around like crazy, thinking that the running around will help us alleviate the fear, because the running around numbs us. But what really really soothes us is connecting to the part of us that never dies, which is our soul. It's so loving. You know.

Elaine Glass:

People ask me well, how do I differentiate between this overthinking mind and then what I think my intuition, or I think my soul is saying to me? And it's very simple your overthinking mind will create limitations. Your overthinking mind will feel chaotic and fearful. But when you connect to the center of yourself in the way that I guide you to do that, it will feel like pure love, unconditional love, love, unconditional love. Because this love doesn't come from a human source, it comes from a spiritual source, a divine source, because I believe that, being a human. I don't know that we can totally unconditionally love as humans, because our ego is in there. So even if it's 1% in there, our ego is in there, so even if it's 1% in there. But this love, this unconditional love, comes from the divine and that is only unconditional. It is such a beautiful concept.

Kasia:

Yeah, I think for many people it can feel very elusive, especially when we talk about the word soul and, you know, some sort of divine power. You know, I think that some people are like, OK, on one hand it's like, oh, I want to lean into that, but on the other hand it's like, well, what is this? What is she talking about? I don't think I can fully, fully resonate with that. Right, I'm curious, like, how did you connect to this power of the soul? You know, was it a spiritual awakening? Was it a religious awakening? Like, how can people really start to identify with those words? Because I think they're quite polarizing for a lot of folks.

Elaine Glass:

I found myself at a retreat center because my life had gotten so loud and so out of control. I needed to find a place where I could really hear my own voice and not all the voices that were telling me what to do, how to do things, as a single, newly single mother. So I found myself at a retreat center and there was a labyrinth there that I walked, and a labyrinth, as you know, is a 4,000-year-old ancient formation that you walk. It's a meditative tool that they used thousands of years ago and they're all over the world. In fact, the United States has more than 5,000 of them and they can be found on private properties. A lot of people are building them on private properties now Hospitals, schools. People are building them on private properties now Hospitals, schools, churches. So they're just a place where you can go and the metaphor is, as you're walking these circular paths, and it's not a maze, it doesn't confuse you, there's one way in and one way out, but you circle around the path to a center, and that really is a metaphor for life. So I found myself walking in the desert in these circular paths, thinking I was going crazy, but it was so quiet there that day and I was like you know, I remember that feeling as a kid like that was that space I needed, that I was desperate for actually. So I just started walking.

Elaine Glass:

I got to the center and I heard, like as if someone was just on my shoulder. I heard the message surrender. So, you know, that's, I guess, the first place to start in terms of like. When you start hearing things that aren't just on repeat, but they actually just you can feel it throughout your whole body and you go, oh, wow, okay, that's different than my overthinking mind.

Elaine Glass:

Where did that message come from? Was that my soul's voice? Was that God? Was that the universe? Like that's where it all started and I think that's where it starts with a lot of people Like there's something different that I'm. How do I trust that? What do I do with that message? You know, I believe messages are our greatest currency. Not only do we get them from you know out there, but we also get them from people. The messages are literally everywhere if we are awake enough to hear them. And that's really what spirituality is is just to be awake and present to your life. And so what happened after that first day I walked the labyrinth is I left. I went back to my car. I turned on my radio and the announcer was talking about of all things, surrender, wow. So that kind of freaked me out.

Kasia:

Naturally, as one would be freaked out in that moment, appropriate reaction.

Elaine Glass:

You know, I'm human. I'm human too. And I didn't go back to that labyrinth for a month later because I was so freaked out because I knew that there was something there. I knew that, whatever was going on, whatever state I was, I was able to get into in that meditative state and I really loved that walking meditation. That movement practice was very, very supportive to me and to the hundreds of people I've taken there since then. And then I went back after a month. I walked it again. I heard and I started singing that Michael Jackson song you are not alone, I am here with you. So I was like, okay, what, whatever, that's random. But I went back to my car, I turned that radio on and that song was playing again Kasia, wow, okay, whatever is going on here, I'm yours, I believe and I trust. Yeah, yeah.

Kasia:

I think, in a way, the example that you shared is one that we each and every one of us, if we're really honest with ourselves, we have had experiences like this, where we're just like whoa there's a knowing or a synchronistic moment or a sign when we were looking for one or a moment of help and support when we needed it. That comes through, reminds us, to your point right, that there is something deeper and that we aren't quite entirely alone, and that there are these hidden layers to our consciousness and existence here. But, to your point, we're not always quiet enough to see them when they come through. This is such a wild story. That is so wild, exactly right.

Elaine Glass:

And I've walked that labyrinth and many others, and every time I get into that state of being because I believe that these labyrinths, these ancient wise formations, like they knew something, that back then they knew what the opportunity was, and I feel like labyrinths have been very dismissed and overlooked and I think that they are so important to our well being and there's so many studies right now proving that. And so what I did was I took that labyrinth, walking to a different level, and each path in the labyrinth, in a particular seven circuit, labyrinth represents a focus, so that the person walking that path can get to the center of themselves, can get to the connection of their soul. And so that's what Get Quiet the book is about. It's about how do I get to the center of that labyrinth, or the center of ourself and connect to the energy of your soul. And so the first path I'll go through the paths really quickly so that we can understand what we're needing to do the very first path to awakening to that soul is to nurture your body. That's the very first thing we need to do. You know, what are we putting in our body? What are we feeding ourselves? What are we taking in terms of medication, supplements? How can we know our bodies better in terms of our genetics, just anything in terms of nurturing our body and getting it to be in a state of really good health, because we cannot connect to our soul if we're weighed down in an unhealthy body.

Elaine Glass:

So this is about cleaning and clearing the paths, and the first path is cleaning and clearing out and making sure your body is healthy. The second path is cleaning and clearing out your environment. Sure your body is healthy. The second path is cleaning and clearing out your environment. Not only the junk in your closet, but the old storage units outside where you're paying every month and you've thrown away the key. You don't even know where it is. Just stuff in your home that hasn't been moved, knickknacks, just people, toxins. Anything in your environment needs to be cleaned and cleared out. These are all these heavy things that we carry as humans and this is all about lightening our load, because the soul's energy is so subtle and it's so light. It's such a high vibration that we're really taking out all of the heavy, dense, dark energy so that we can rise in lightness and meet our soul in that same really beautiful high vibration.

Elaine Glass:

The third path is the mind, and this is funny because this is the outer circle of the labyrinth. It's the longest path, which I agree with, because it's the most difficult. How do we get present? How do we get those limiting beliefs out of us? So that's the third path cleaning and clearing out the mind. The fourth path is getting rest. What a novel idea, giving ourselves permission to actually rest.

Elaine Glass:

And then the paths after that become much more esoteric, because now we're going into the paths of healing emotions, we're going into the paths of grounding, we're going into the paths of now getting so light because we've just really created such great space in our lives that now we can dream again, now we can really begin to feel ourselves again, we're not so numb. And then the path after that, the one that's just right before getting to the center, is connecting with our intuition and the intuition colors in all of your dreams, all the details of your dreams. And then you, finally, you walk into the center of yourself because you've clean and cleared all this denseness and now you're just this beautiful lightness of being so easily and able to connect to that energy of your soul. And as you walk out of those circuits back out into the world. There's so much more peace, there's so much more clarity and you just have your next step of knowing what to do next. And isn't that really all we want? It's just that next step, because if we look too far down the bend it's too scary, it feels out of control. We just want that next step.

Elaine Glass:

You know, when I got to the center once I had just met my fiance, michael, and there were rose petals in the center, that day I mean random, and I was like is he the one? I'm not sure, you know. It's just like I'm not sure if I'm ready. You know, are the kids ready to you, ready to have a man in the house? There was just so many big decisions, but that day that was weighing heavy on my mind. I got to the center. I see these rose petals and I literally hear, just like I heard surrender, so clearly I heard he's the one. It could come from all your girlfriends, it could come from your parents, it could come from you know, but when it comes from you, from your soul telling you you know, we're talking a whole different level of consciousness. It's really such an important way to live right now because of the noise, so important right now. I can't think of anything more important right now than to be able to connect to your soul.

Kasia:

Yeah, I mean, there's so much there with what you just shared. It's funny. You were talking about how it can come from your girlfriends. It can come from other places, but if it comes from you, you kind of almost like feel the difference. And all too often I almost feel like when we are asking our girlfriends and asking everyone around us, what should we do? Is it this or is it that? It's almost as though that is like the sign that we do need to get quiet because we're not hearing our own voice, right Like when you're describing this attunement. That happens it comes when you're truly shedding away some of the outside layers and baggage that are holding you back from that intuitive part, and I think that's just such an important call out that the voice is always there. It sounds like it's just. Can we let go of some of the baggage and the noise, both mental and physical, that is standing in our way?

Elaine Glass:

right 100%, and that is the most rebellious thing we can do today is to get quiet, is to release what we're holding, because society doesn't support this. In fact, it's getting louder and louder and less supportive and less supportive, and that is why it was so important for me to be able to show somebody how easy it is to stay connected to your soul, as it's getting louder and louder and less supportive. Like this is so important, just to learn as like a life skill. You know, I've taught my kids how to live this way, so that, of course, you know we do live in a modern world. We love all the distractions and it's okay, you know, to have all that, but we've got to be able to also rein that in and really say, okay, enough of that, enough of the cycles of stress, enough of the distractions, and let's, let's rein it back into balance, let's rein ourselves back into harmony, back into nurturing ourselves, so that we can stay connected to our soul.

Kasia:

Hi everyone. I wanted to take a moment to tell you about today's sponsor, my company Inflow. Are you a woman struggling with balancing it all? Maybe you use productivity tools like planners or Google Calendar to optimize your schedule, but still you find yourself burnt out. If this sounds like you, you are not alone. 44% of working women today experience burnout, and that's because the way we work isn't working. Traditional planners treat every day as though it were the same, but female bodies don't operate that way.

Kasia:

Our energy creativity and productivity fluctuate over a 28-day cycle, not a 24-hour one. This realization inspired me to launch Inflow, a planner designed for female bodies. Inflow helps women find optimal energy and wellbeing by harmonizing their schedules, diets and workouts with their body's natural cycles. Our planners start on day one of your cycle, not a random Monday where OBGYN and blue light. Free cultivate flow, not burnout. If you want to learn more, head to inflowplannercom and use code podcast10 for 10% off. All right. Now back to the episode.

Kasia:

I want to go back to something you said earlier the word surrender you said it twice at least at this point, and I feel like a common reaction to that word and I will say this for myself, I don't feel this way anymore, but I definitely did is that surrender is synonymous, I think, in our minds, perhaps incorrectly, with giving up. So could you define what surrender actually looks like? Right, because you know, if we're struggling, the last thing we want to do is give up. It's like wait, what are you saying? Like I'm not okay with this situation. I'm suffering right now. Right, like this, I am not where I quote, want to be, this is not what I imagined, or this failed, or I'm. I just am going through this horrible breakup. I can't just surrender because it feels like I'm giving up. Can you?

Elaine Glass:

talk about that a bit. Yes, it is what an inner conflict that is that we really have to get straight within ourselves Because, especially as women, who are, you know, go getters and we, you know we want to be the best, you know that we can be and have confidence and all of those, all those things. To think that we're giving up in any way is just such a letdown. But surrendering, I believe, is not that at all. In fact, I believe it's the opposite. I believe it is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself, because for me, surrendering is realizing that I'm not in control, that there's a much more powerful force that is maybe not in control but is guiding me and supporting me and loving me, that I am willing to surrender to because that energy is much more all-knowing than me. And so this is just releasing again the hold and the heaviness of needing to be in control, that is huge.

Kasia:

It kind of goes back to what you were saying a moment ago about not needing to know the whole plan, and I think that is maybe what we hiccup on with. Oh my God, surrender, that's giving up. Hello, of course I want to have a seven-figure business. Right now, I can barely pay my bills. What are you telling me to do? To surrender? Right, that can feel so triggering, but it's not about giving up, as you're saying. Right, it's about almost like giving in to faith and focusing on tuning in it sounds like to the next step. And that is so freeing because, as you said earlier, we don't need, if we feel, if we actually surrender, we don't need to know the whole plan. We just need to know the next step which will lead to the next step which will lead to the next step, if we're truly tuned in, right, totally.

Elaine Glass:

I mean, when I see those rose petals and I hear he's the one, what more do I need? In that moment, like I've surrendered to that message and I'm going to trust that message, because trusting of the message is the language of the universe. It's like I trust your universe, I trust you've got me, I trust that I've tuned in enough and gotten myself into such a state of being of lightness and connected with you that I trust where you're guiding me. And then not only am I going to trust it, but the next step is then to take action, to say yes to the proposal of marriage, you know, to say yes to the job, to say yes to whatever it is that you want to take action, or, if it's a no, to powerfully say no.

Elaine Glass:

I remember when a very well-known spiritual teacher approached me years ago and said do you want to be on my team? And at the time I was just starting my own business, I was just trying to pay my bills and from the outside looking in, that would have been the best invitation I could ever have really received. But I took that message to the labyrinth, my place where I get quiet, so I can. And I heard a clear no, kasia, and that freaked me out, because the no's are just as unsettling as the yes's Almost more so.

Kasia:

Almost more so right? Because no is like okay, well, now what Right? In a lot of cases, yeah, Totally, it's like wait what?

Elaine Glass:

No, I thought that was it. I thought that was finally my big break, you know. But it was so clear, and by then I had really begun to trust this voice and I said just a graceful no. And it was the right decision, because I had my own path, I had my own creative way, I had my own book, I had my own, you know, retreats, I had my own energy medicine, you know creative modalities to create. So. But I didn't know that, but I just knew it was a no. And so that was my next step was just to say no, okay. And what's next?

Kasia:

Oh my gosh, I can relate to this so much. I you know I'm happily married right now with my absolute soulmate. I love him so much. We've been married for a year and a half, but together for several years, and I remember that my biggest no came several years before I met him. I was in a relationship for over three years. We were living together.

Kasia:

I had met him shortly after moving from the East Coast to California and he was almost the full package of everything I wanted. He stood by me through some really difficult health struggles where I was extremely vulnerable. I got up against so many edges with him and he is an incredible man, incredible man who I still have a lot of love for. But there was something within me that knew that my soulmate, the person that I was meant to be with for or meant to meet, let's say, because I don't know what the future will hold right but that there was a particular person and I could almost feel and see his eyes, like the way that he would look at me and what eye contact would look like and feel like in my body. And I remember journaling on this and almost like envisioning him and bringing him to life, and it was the hardest thing to do, because there's nothing worse in my mind than like being in a situation where I was still in this relationship and I was trying to get clear if he was the one or not and I was trying to imagine who I was going to be with and what was coming out was so different, or not even so different, but just it felt like it was slightly different. It wasn't it, and I had to walk away from something that was someone who was nearly perfect, because I felt this voice within me say it's over, he's not the right one.

Kasia:

In fact, this it's over voice has happened in two past relationships, clear as day, like clear, cognizant, I think, right, or clear audience where you can hear it. I have heard it on two occasions in the in two different relationships, and the only thing that has happened is I usually end it later than the voice comes through. Right, but that is like speaking of the nose, like they can almost be harder because afterwards there is nothing amazing at the other side. For me, in my case, it took a while. Right, there was a lot of pain and suffering, so I just love that you're mentioning that. You know that truth doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to wake up to roses immediately the next day. It actually could be quite a lot of pain right 100%.

Elaine Glass:

And the growth is in the pain. The growth is in wait. Wait, what a minute, wait a minute. This is a no. I mean the growth. That's where the growth is. That's where the introspection comes in. You know well, if it's not that relationship, if it's not that job, if it's not that opportunity, then where do I go from here? And that's where the paths of get quiet are so helpful.

Elaine Glass:

Because when you read these, these, these seven paths, you go oh, I think what's getting in my way is something in my environment. Or oh, I think what's getting in my way to know what's next for me is that my health isn't what it needs to be, and that's just this heavy consideration that I can't, I won't know what's next because there's so much weighing heavy on me with my health and any health issues. So, again, we're just always wanting to get back to that path that we say this is what is going on and that's what's so beautiful about Get Quiet is it's your blueprint, it's your guideposts to knowing what could be getting in your way and what's really weighing heavy on you. Because we are all energy, energetic beings. Because we are all energy, energetic beings and when our vibration is low, it's very hard to bring in anything of a higher vibration into our lives. It's just like we're not gonna attract it. We're not gonna attract that more kind man, we're not gonna attract that more fulfilling career if we ourselves are in a lower energetic vibration.

Elaine Glass:

And that's also what I noticed was that when I got to the center, when I connected to my soul, when I actually connected to this, what I now know it being the quantum field of energy that surrounds all of us, where all of the wisdom and encoding of what we're supposed to do in this lifetime is, what was there waiting for me was so profound and so unexpected that I literally thought I was going little wackadoodle, because that's what will happen when you follow these paths and you trust in something greater than you knowing what's best for you in this lifetime.

Elaine Glass:

And so what came through me were energy points that I lay into the labyrinth walking, so that it's not just nurturing your body, but that part of the path is also the focus of the energy around your abdomen. So each path has an energy point associated with it. So as you're walking the path, you're also shifting your energy into a high vibration state so that you feel safe in your body, because we need to feel safe in our body as humans when we connect to this powerful soul, and so this is what's happening in the book, and it's really a beautiful journey.

Kasia:

I think this is so, so huge for people, because oftentimes we almost feel like this obligation out of, I should take care of my body, I should get rest. But I think, flipping the perspective to really understand that this is a journey of self-nourishment, and the more you nourish yourself, the quieter you're able to become, the more you can hear your own inner voice, and it's really a gift for ourselves and I think that's so powerful. But I do want to ask one thing, because I think this is going to be a very relevant question for a lot of listeners. I think that there are a lot of people out there who might feel skeptical about this moment of getting quiet, because the getting quiet also leaves.

Kasia:

I think not in all cases does the answer come through right away. Right, it actually might be like okay, what you need right now is actually to take rest and not take as much action. Right, like where the action might be counter what we think we should do and that can make a lot of people uncomfortable. Or perhaps there's like a period of almost like a bit of a void for a period of time, as you deepen your own inner connection and maybe not go outward to go on a billion dates if you're single and you're trying to find someone. I'm just setting up some examples of stuff that can come up. How do you recommend people deal with the restlessness or impatience that can come up when we're starting to tune in, because often what we tune into is counter what we in our minds think we should be doing and there's that like resistance there. What should we be doing in those cases?

Elaine Glass:

You know, I it's. It's just like meditation, any type of meditation, where you're sitting and, you know, cross-legged in your room or you're walking a meditate, you meditate a path. There's no expectations. That's the number one rule no expectations whatsoever. Because now you're getting in your own way and so that you know that I was so innocent that very first day walking the labyrinth. I was just so innocent. It's just, you're always a beginner and and and be comfortable being a beginner. It's such a an innocent, playful way to be as a beginner and that's how you approach any type of getting quiet.

Elaine Glass:

Getting back to the word play, you know I believe that one of womankind's greatest achievements is play, but we've lost that connection to play and so this is a very playful way of approaching life and play creates this feeling of aliveness. You know, you think about children at play on a playground. It's just, we can't lose that as adults. But you know, there's such a heaviness of like, wanting and doing more, more, more and getting more, more, more, and that really gets in our way. The narrative really, you know, can change the narrative of what success is. You know, for me success is being in a body that feels good and feeling inner peace. That is success. You cannot put a price on that. I don't care if someone hands me a million dollars If I don't have, if I don't feel good in my body and have inner peace.

Kasia:

I think that is so important to call out too that going in, as you said, with no expectations, into this labyrinth that you've created here in Get Quiet or on any meditative journey, as you kind of go deeper and get quieter, the core values that you actually value may shift and change, and to go kind of bring it back full circle, as you were saying earlier, how we are souls having this human experience and if we can really lean into that, the path is part of the journey, and so I just I love that emphasis and Lane. I could chat with you for hours but we're actually running up on time, so I know folks are going to want to find you, to find your book. I'm going to hyperlink everything below, but where can people connect with you to learn more about your work and everything we talked about today?

Elaine Glass:

ElaineGlass. com. You can find everything there. But I also want to mention, because we've talked so much about labyrinth walking, if you're so moved to maybe have this your one month, that you choose to do something out of your comfort zone, go find a labyrinth and walk one. I know there will be one by you and you can go to labyrinthlocatorcom. That is the national and international website for finding a labyrinth. So yeah, elaineglass. com, and then if you want to walk a labyrinth, and yeah, and tell Kasia what your experience was with walking a labyrinth.

Kasia:
